29 Years of “Song of the Summer”

I’m not sure when the idea of naming a “song of the summer” became a thing, but according to Billboard, the phenomenon goes back to at least 1985.  Here’s their list of their picks which begin with “Shout” from Tears for Fears (which I can attest was HUGE back in ’85.)
