80,000 attendees of Burning Man stuck in a ten-hour traffic jam

The first Burning Man festival in three years has wrapped up in the Nevada desert and by all accounts, things went well (except for the occasional sand storm). The problems began when 80,000 people decided to leave at the same time.

There’s one road out of Black Rock Desert in Gerlach, Nevada. It was jammed. And the temperature soared beyond 40 degrees. Talk about misery.

Exodus wait time is over 9 hours. If you are still in #BRC, wait to leave. If you are on Gate Road, turn off your vehicle to conserve gas, and be patient. Teams are working to keep the roads safe and get everyone home safely. Gas up in Gerlach due to a fuel shortage in Empire.

Vehicle Maintenance
In the Nevada desert in August, temperatures can reach greater than 103°F. Check your vehicle’s tires and air pressure after loading your vehicle. Local mechanic can inspect your radiator, tires (including your spare), belts, brakes, hoses, lights, and fluids.
