A First Nations Tragically Hip tribute band is adding Cree lyrics to some Hip songs

One of Gord Downie’s greatest legacies will be his push towards reconciliation with Canada’s First Nations, something that’s embraced by almost everyone on both sides of the divide.

The Poets are a Hip tribute band from Moose Cree First Nation on the shores of James Bay. When they perform, they insert Cree lyrics in a a couple of songs, including “Ahead By a Century” and “Fiddlers Green.”

The band met Gord several times and greatly appreciate the efforts he made.
