A New Twist on Alternative Radio: Latin Alternative

The other day I received an email from someone interested in alternative music from non-English speaking part of the world. Good question. What do other cultures considered to be “alternative” when it comes music?

Here’s a new window on the concept.  KSCN/Los Angeles (a Triple A member-supported English station) is set to launch an HD2 (HD radio, something we don’t have in Canada) dedicated to Latin alternative, an emerging genre in some parts of the US and other countries.  

And KSCN just isn’t about alt-rock.  The station promises EDM, hip-hop, indie pop, SalSoul and classic rock Español 24/7.  This is a first for Los Angeles–and could fill a giant hole in that market.

The official launch of the station will come next Wednesday at noon PT with a performance by Los Lobos. Meanwhile, you can listen to a stream here.
