A Preview of British Music for 2013

Every year around this time, the BBC reveals their Sounds Of 20XX list, their attempt to predict the British hitmakers of the upcoming year.  Here are the 15 acts they’ve picked:

A*M*E:  17 year-old with a big voice and major label backing.

Angel Haze:  Hot female rapper

Arlissa:  Pop tart

Chvrches:  Scottish electropop

Haim:  Fleetwood Mac-like sisters from LA

King Krule:  Use to be known as Zoo Kid

Kodaline:  Dublin’s Coldplay

Laura Mvula:  Another big voice. Can’t help thinking of that Seinfeld episode, though.

Little Green Cars: Irish alt-pop

Palma Violets: Indie rock from the UK.  Check out “Best of Friends.”

Peace:  Birmingham guitar rock

Savages:  All-female post-punk band

The Weeknd:  Yep. Our Canadian boy.

Tom Odell:  Jeff Buckley-ish.
