A rare Dave Grohl solo album just sold for big dollars on eBay

When Nirvana was blowing up in 1992, Dave Grohl, still the new guy in the band, found some time to record a solo album. Entitled Pocketwatch and released under the name Late!, it was only available on cassette and through mail order.

No one was paying much attention to Dave at the time beyond the fact that he was just the latest person hired to keep time for Kurt Cobain’s songs. Now, though, we know different.

All things Dave and Foo Fighters are increasingly collectible, including this old cassette. When a brand new copy appeared on eBay recently, bidding took off. In the end, it sold for US$565.55.

Fortunately, the rest of us have YouTube. All 35 minutes of this tape can be found with a quick search. Foos fans may recognize bits and pieces as material that would later show up in different forms.

Here’s the full tracklisting.
