A sign of the apocalypse: Nine Inch Nails is scoring a movie for Disney

When I heard the news, I immediately thought of Bill Murray in Ghostbusters.

Trent Reznor is reconstituting Nine Inch Nails to create the soundtrack for the new Tron movie, a film being produced by Disney. Yes, the man who wrote songs like “Closer” and “Wish” is working with The Mouse. No one saw this coming.

Trent has scored about a dozen movies with partner Atticus Ross, winning Oscars and Golden Globes in the process. This, however, is the first time that a soundtrack will be credited to Nine Inch Nails. Whatever comes out of this will be the first new NIN tracks since the last installment of the Ghosts series in 2020. It’ll be the third in the Tron series, the last of which was scored by Daft Punk.

The movie, starring Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, and Greta Lee will be out in 2025. Will Trent make a cameo? We’ll see.

This post from NIN sums things up nicely.
