ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” is the latest video to pass one billion views on YouTube

Given the cultural ubiquity of “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for the video to pass one billion views on YouTube. Here are some facts:

  • This is the second-oldest song to hit a billion. Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” (1976) was first. “Dancing Queen” was released in 1979.
  • 25% of views apparently came from 24-34 year-olds. Another 16% came from 18-24s.
  • ABBA’s YouTube channel features 10 videos each with more than 100 million views.
  • Mexico City, Lima, and Santiago are the top cities for ABBA.
