AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” Sucked in the Ashley Madison Mess

You can imagine the panic being felt by registered users of Ashley Madison users. Avid Life Media, the company behind the sites is also totally freaked out.  The whole fiasco continues to spiral out of control in all directions with rumours of at least two suicides related to the link.

Toronto Police held a press conference today offering details of a $500,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the hack. They also revealed how Avid Life found out about the attack.

On July 12, several workers logged on to their machines only to find a message from the hackers. The message was accompanied by AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” I’m sure the band will be impressed when they find out.

The leak has also led to a number of scams that purport to offer access to a list of Ashley Madison users through various web links. Don’t click on those, dude. You just know they’ll lead you into a world of hurt. Run away.
