Ahead of Super Bowl LVII, here’s a roundup of music-related football stories (Rihanna, Drake, Elton John, U2)

Super Bowl LVII will finally be played in Arizona tomorrow. As usual, there are plenty of music-related stories around the game.

Trump Comes for Rihanna

Rihanna is our halftime entertainment this year. What’s she going to do? Hard to say, since the setlist has changed 39 times. One person who isn’t impressed is Donald Trump and other MAGA types.

And yes. Yes, she did.

Yes, Drake has played more bets

Drake is gambler. He’s placed seven “psychotic” bets on the game, including US$700,000 for the Chiefs to win. If all his bets hit, he stands to make US$4.5 million.

That Doritos commercial featuring Elton John?

He made £1million for “five minutes’ work.” It’s a 90-second spot. Elton appears for just a couple of seconds. He steals it in what’s supposed to be a Jack Harlow commercial.

U2 will apparently have its own commercial

The worst-kept secret in the concert world is that U2 will hold a residency at the new MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. There’s already a website. And there will be a TV commercial leading up to the game to announce everything. Rumour has it that it’ll run around 5pm ET.

And then there’s this tease.
