Airbnb Launching Trips Program in Toronto

Since the company’s start in 2008, Airbnb has grown its success and branched off into various other areas than just accommodations. This past November the company started offering experiential Trips. This particular service now comes to Canada with Toronto as its first location by offering foodie tours of Greektown, and nine other unique Toronto experiences.

The Toronto Star describes Airbnb’s new program:

“Trips, which has launched in 13 cities since November, is about connecting travellers and “expert” hosts, who guide visitors through an authentic, local taste of their destination, said Andrea La Mesa, Airbnb’s San Francisco-based director of Trips”.

One thing about Trips that I find particularly interesting is that it does not require the user to book Airbnb accommodation, so locals can book an experience, too. A great idea for those of us who have lived near the city our whole lives but haven’t had the opportunity to learn all of its secrets or enjoy all of its delicious treats.

Two other experiences in Toronto that company officials hinted at is a hidden robotics lab and a fashion tour.
