An Apple…ring?

Apple has been under fire for not being as innovative as it was under Steve Jobs. Outside of Apple Watch, they haven’t released any OH-MY-GOD-I-MUST-HAVE-THAT-TAKE-MY-MONEY devices since…what, the iPad?

Then again, what new piece of consumer hardware is waiting to be invented? Could it be that Apple is working on a smart ring? Hey, wearable tech is a wide open area.

Amazon recently announced the Echo Loop, a smart ring that features Alexa functionality. Now we hear about a new Apple patent for “wearable electronic ring computing device” that interacts with iPhones or Mac laptops.

Digging deeper, Apple’s ring would feature a touchscreen(!!!), a microphone, onboard processor, a wireless transceiver and a bunch of different sensors. And yes, it would come with Siri.

What good would all this be? Motion and fitness tracking. The ability to “flick” pages on your phone or tablet. Maybe even writing motions in midair.
