An excellent expose: The biggest scams in hi-fi audio from the last 40 years.

I’d consider myself to be a mid-level audiophile. I appreciate great audio from my gear, but I’m not going to take out a second mortgage to buy top-of-the-line esoteric gear. For me, there’s a point of diminishing returns.

Those who do pursue absolute perfection are often subject to scams. This video (via Rick J) outlines some of the worst ones from the last 40 years.

    Seen a bunch of these videos over the years, this is a solid one … succinct, good coverage.

    I truly think most audiophiles are insane and don’t remotely even have the hearing (range) to tell a quality difference between $500 and $50,000 amp.

    The one thing I’ll grant is they might be paying for an expensive pleasant-sounding EQ…
