Ancient Cylinder Recordings Sold Off for Big $$$

Two vinyl recordings–both predating the rotating disc–were sold at auction the other day.

The first was an 1893 recording by the Unique Quartette out of New York singing “Mama’s Black Baby Boy” and sold for $1,100.  The second was another cylinder from the Unique Quartette from 1896 entitled “Who Broke the Lock (On the Henhouse Door)?”  It went for $1,900.
