And Now, A Super Bowl Ad by…The Flaming Lips?

A 60-second ad for this year’s Super Bowl runs about $4 million, so it had better be good.  Hyundai’s plan to make you forget your bathroom break is a commercial featuring the Flaming Lips.

Wayne and the group will star in a spot–yes, they’ll be on camera–for the Sante Fe SUV.  The company will also give away 100,000 free downloads of this song entitled “Sun Blows Up Today,” which, by the way, was custom-written by the band just for this commercial.  (Go here for the download…eventually).

Clever move for the band, too.  They’ll be seen by more people during this one 60-second blast than in the entire year.  More on the story at Billboard.
