And the 2025 nominees for The Rock and Roll Hall of fame are…not Iron Maiden. Or Alice in Chains. Or The Pixies. But Mariah Carey is there.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum is a cool place to visit. I highly recommend it. The concept of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a partisan, old boys’ club sh*tshow. A total joke with no credibility whatsoever. If they want to rename it The Pop Music Hall of Fame, fine. The whole “rock” thing was bastardized years ago.

Here’s proof. The Hall has refused to induct these acts and the number of times they’ve failed to make it.

  • Alice in Chains (9)
  • Bjork (22)
  • Devo (21)
  • Ronnie James Dio (16)
  • Brian Eno (26)
  • Iron Maiden (20)
  • Jane’s Addiction (12)
  • Motorhead (21)
  • The Pixies (12)
  • The Smiths (16)
  • Sonic Youth (17)
  • Television (24)

There are more, but I could go on. Meanwhile, the following have been inducted.

  • ABBA
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Cher
  • Janet Jackson
  • Kool and the Gang
  • Michael Jackson
  • Madonna
  • Donna Summer
  • Whitney Houston

I’m afraid it doesn’t get any better for 2025.

  • Bad Company (Probably should)
  • The Black Crowes (Ditto)
  • Mariah Carey (Are you F**KING KIDDING ME?)
  • Chubby Checker (I’m shocked he wasn’t inducted decades ago)
  • Joe Cocker (Meh)
  • Billy Idol (Love Billy, but…)
  • Joy Division/New Order (21 snubs for Joy Division and 18 for New Order)
  • Cyndi Lauper (Another one of those “But she represents the SPIRT of rock’n’roll” nominees. No. No, she doesn’t.)
  • Maná (A Mexican pop-rock band from the 80s_
  • Oasis (A five-timer when it comes to snubs)
  • Outkast (A six-timer!)
  • Phish (Another meh.)
  • Soundgarden (Thirteen snubs. JEEZUS people!)
  • The White Stripes (They’ve been snubbed twice already)

There’s about a thousand people–all industry buddies–who vote on who gets in. The fan vote counts for almost nothing (you can vote multiple times). Public sentiment often doesn’t match up with what the industry ends up picking.

The class of 2025 will be announced in late April
