And the new drummer of the Foo Fighters will NOT be…

…Pearl Jam/Soundgarden dude, Matt Cameron. He made a statement yesterday (March 26) denying he was going to replace Taylor Hawkins in the Foo Fighters. It was a short and sweet Instagram post.

So much for my prediction that he’d get the job. I honestly thought he was a lock. So if not Matt, who?

With him dropping out, the betting shifts to Atom Williard (Angels & Airwaves and a ton of other bands) and Rufus Taylor (of The Darkness and son of Roger Taylor of Queen. Taylor’s favourite band was Queen and Roger was his favourite drummer.) Another possible candidate is journeyman drummer Josh Freese.

The Foo Fighters have to make an announcement soon. A string of festival dates is set to begin on May 24 at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavillon in Gilford NH, which is about 150 km north of Boston. With that first gig coming up fast, rehearsals and other preparations must have begun.
