And the Top-Selling Songs on iTunes for 2012 Are…

Well, you can probably guess.  Or maybe not.

Adele’s 21 sold more copies than any other album on iTunes in 2012.  It was followed by Taylor Swift’s Red (which, by the way, wasn’t released until October), Babel from Mumford & Sons (not issued until September), Up All Night from One Direction and Some Nights by fun.

The single of the year in North America goes to a Canadian:  Carly Rae Jepson and “Call Me Maybe.”  In second place was Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” followed by fun.’s “We Are Young,” Maroon 5‘s “Payphone” with Wiz Khalifa and Nicki Minaj‘s “Starships.”
