And the winner of the 2024 Mercury Prize is…

The Mercury Prize is the cash award given out to the best British/Irish album of the last year regardless of genre or commercial success. It’s the template for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize. Going into last night’s ceremony, this was the short list.

Charli xcx: BRAT
CMAT: Crazymad, for Me
Corinne Bailey Rae: Black Rainbows

English Teacher: This Could Be Texas
Ghetts: On Purpose, With Purpose
Nia Archives: Silence Is Loud
The Last Dinner Party: Prelude to Ecstasy

When all was said and done, the award went to This Could be Texas from English Teacher.
