Superfi, a UK-based site dedicated to hi-fi and home cinema took the same software that powers IBM’s Watson supercomputer to analyze the tones of thousands upon thousands of songs in an effort to find out which artists are the angriest, saddest and happiest.

Here’s an executive summary:

  • Angriest Song Ever: “Kim” from Eminem.
  • Most Joyful Artists: Frank Sinatra is number one, followed by Elvis Presley, Taylor Swift and the Beatles.
  • Happiest Song of All Time: “Good Vibrations” from the Beach Boys.
  • Saddest Song of All Time: “Crying” by Roy Orbison.

The full results are displayed in this infographic. There’s some interesting stuff in here.
