Another live music disaster: At least 59 killed in a North Macedonia nightclub fire

Nightclub fires have a long and sad history going back more than 100 years. The latest happened in Kocan, a town in North Macedonia where fatalities have reached 59 and injuries 155.

Club Pulse was dangerously overcrowded with fans attending a gig by some pop bands, At around 2:30 am during a set by a local pop ground, fire broke out, probably caused by some pyro effects. The deaths and injuries were due to the stampede to get out, smoke inhalation, and flames. Then the roof of the single-storey structure partially collapsed.

There was one entrance/exit and authorities have detained 15 people for questioning. The guess is that there was some bribery happening to allow the club to operate in the way it did.
