Another Reason Beats Headphones Aren’t Worth It

To my ears, Dr. Dre’s Beats headphones are awful.  They’re boomy and way too bass heavy–as well as being outrageously expensive.  They’re just not worth the money.  Still, they sell by the millions and the Beats brand has mucho cache.

That’s where this story comes in.  A 21 year-old man was shot when someone came up to him and demand that he turn over his Beats, the ‘phone he bought for $300 on Black Friday.  He’s dead.

  • I agree, they are totally not worth it. I tried a pair on a year ago (that were $399), and they sounded like there was tissue packed inside them. Muffled, distorted, and loads of fake bass. They are not even half as good at the Grado 125i's that I bought got less than half the price.

  • Jason, please reread my comment, auto correct mistakes and all, and you will see that I recommend the Grado Labs SR125i headphones that I bought instead.

  • Sorry @OldSouthKyle,

    I did see that – I was actually soliciting Alan's recommendation…

    Cheers,

  • No worries Jason, all is good. And I do know this isn't the first time Alan has slagged these headphones, and rightfully so.
