Another Weird Piece of Beatles Memorabilia Goes Up for Sale

If you know anything about Beatles history, the date July 6, 1957 has special significance. That’s when Paul McCartney (who had just turned 15 a few weeks earlier) met 16 year-old John Lennon at St. Peter’s Church in Liverpool.

The occasion was a church picnic and the introduction was made by Ivan Vaughan, a mutual friend.  Within two weeks, Paul and John were playing together in a band called The Quarrymen and things eventually turned out all right for them.

Pieces of the floorboards of St. Peter’s are being sold right now on eBay.  Not necessarily boards trod upon by the young Lennon and McCartney, though; these are from a side room that was damaged by a fire in 2001.

Still, it’s from that church where that meeting took place.  You have until October 23 to make your bid.
