Apple’s New AirPods Pro go on sale tomorrow for $329
We’ve been hearing about an update to Apple’s insanely popular AirPods wireless headphones. It came yesterday, and the new models promise a better fit, noise-cancelling, and appear to have slightly shorter stems so that it won’t look like we’ve got cigarettes hanging from our ears. And yes, they still only come in white.
The new buds offer the same noise cancelling tech found in the Beats Solo Pro headphones (also owned by Apple, of course).
Each bud has a tiny microphone which samples the surroundings 200 times a second, cancelling out whatever extraneous noise the unit can. Given the size of a standard set of noise-cancelling headphones, the miniaturization is impressive–if it works as advertised, of course.
The other thing I’m keen to check out is the “Adaptive EQ,” which is said to adjust the audio for size and shape of your individual ear.
And for the first time, AirPods will come with flexible tip (there are three included) that will help create a better fit. There’s even an app that will help us pick which tip works best.
Battery life? About 24 hours. A little less if you’re using the noise-cancelling function.
The new AirPods go on sale tomorrow at $329 (that’s Canadian dollars).
