Applications for Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class Now Open

Artists can now submit their applications for the 2019/2020 Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class. In its fifth year, Canada’s leading artists development program offers emerging musical talent with opportunities to hone their craft and develop music careers. This includes a week-long intensive and immersive week of mentorship from leaders in the Canadian music industry, as well as a trip to Saskatoon to be a part of the 2020 JUNO Awards. 

Presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and Slaight Music and created with Canada’s Music Incubator at Coalition Music, the experience aims to cultivate new talent through networking, collaboration opportunities, and curated mentorship. Additionally, this year the three artists will be joined by the 2019 CBC Music Searchlight winner, Shopé.

After the deadline, submissions will first be narrowed down to 10 finalists by a group of Canadian music industry professionals. Those 10 will then be narrowed down to the final three by a Super Jury of key music industry leaders. Those three lucky winners will be announced on September 17, 2019.

The three winners receive an all-inclusive week-long trip to Toronto featuring a customized mentorship with Canada’s Music Incubator at Coalition Music and finishes with a music industry showcase night in Toronto. Furthermore, the three artists will be be featured in a JUNO TV mini-doc on their Master Class experience, receive studio time at Slaight Music Recording Studios, and a $5,000 cash prize courtesy of Slaight Music. 

Additionally, the artists will be going to Saskatoon and participate in the JUNO Week events and have a JUNOfest performance slot. One of the three will be chosen to perform at the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards for over 1,200 music industry elite.
