Attention Tragically Hip Fans: Take a Look at the New Courage for Gord Website

I continue to be stunned by the massive organic grassroots support we’ve seen for Gord Downie since the announcement of his brain cancer diagnosis back in May. One group of people has upped the ante with a new website called Courage for Gord, which has full endorsements from the Sunnybrook Foundation and the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

The new site also includes a Gift Shop (a natural, right?) that features merch designed by Tragically Hip fans. Money is being directed toward the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research and the Gord Downie Secret Path Fund for Truth and Reconciliation. The goal is to consolidate a bunch of fundraising efforts–a good move, because there are a lot of them–and provide a one-stop-shop for non-licensed merch. That’s a tricky thing given the potential legalities, so this is a way to make sure that proceeds will go to the right places.

Another thing: the people behind this website are planning for something they call HIPCON, a Tragically Hip fan convention. Details will be made available as soon as they’re firmed up.

Follow Courage for Gord on Twitter through @courageforgord. There’s also a Facebook page.
