The BBC Releases Their Sound of 2017 Longlist

Around this time every year, the BBC issues a list of emerging artists whom they believe will be a big deal in the coming twelve months. In January, this list gets edited down to a final five from which one winner will be declared. They’ve had a good record, too, having identified people like Adele, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith in past years.

So if you’re looking for some new fresh stuff, you can start by setting up a Spotify list featuring these people:

The full list is:

AJ Tracey
Anderson .Paak
Cabbage
Dave
Declan McKenna
Jorja Smith
Maggie Rogers
Nadia Rose
Rag ‘n’ Bone Man
Ray BLK
RAYE
Stefflon Don
The Amazons
The Japanese House
Tom Grennan

If I had to pick on, I’d go with Cabbage, the fierce and snotty young band from Manchester. To learn more about each of them, go here. Meanwhile, The Guardian has their “future 50” list of rising artists.  (Cabbage is here, too.)
