Before Maynard was in Tool, he was in TEX.A.Ns. Some old recordings have just surfaced.

Maynard James Keenan went through several career twists and turns before he landed with Tool. One of his early bands was called TEX.A.N.s, a Michigan-based band that straddled punk and new wave. Until now, though, there hasn’t been fans could listen to. Did any recordings even exist?

Actually, yes. Mike Meengs was the keyboardist with the band and has posted a couple of songs from those pre-Tool days.

A warning, though: Before you hit “play,” understand that this material sounds nothing like Tool–which, when you think of it, is actually kinda cool
