Best thing today: Watch this animation of the best-selling music artists from 1970 to 2019

A first-year PhD student with a thing for visualizations has created this look at the best-selling music artists from 1970 through to today. It’s fascinating –mesmerizing, actually–to see how the careers rise and recede quarter by quarter over the last 50 years.

Alan Cross

is an internationally known broadcaster, interviewer, writer, consultant, blogger and speaker. In his 30+ years in the music business, Alan has interviewed the biggest names in rock, from David Bowie and U2 to Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters. He’s also known as a musicologist and documentarian through programs like The Ongoing History of New Music.

    I’m guessing that list is more based on singles, not albums, seeing how a few “one hit wonders” jumped up so quickly and then drop just as fast

    OMG, I adore this idea! Thanks to this video, I have managed to find such amazing music hits! I can listen to favorite albums and do whatever I want. By the way, while checking this one, I was reading an article on eu-lrh.com? highly recommended:))
