The Big Feastival [Sic]l: Music, Food, and Family Fun
A new music festival is coming to Canada in August that combines music, food, and an all-around good time: The Big Feastival (Yes, that’s how you spell it. Get the pun?) Branded as Canada’s newest feel-good festival of music, food, and family fun, the Big Feastival began in the UK in 2011.
Conceived by Jamie Oliver and hosted Blur bassist and artisan cheesemaker Alex James, the UK Big Feastival celebrates fabulous food, magnificent music, and family fun for all ages. The Canadian version will be held on August 18-20 at Burl’s Creek, Oro-Medonte.
On one stage the festival will showcase award-winning music and on the other the country’s best chefs will cook live. Family-friendly entertainment will also be happening throughout the festival.
Musicians scheduled to perform include Weezer, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, the Strumbellas, Basia Bulat, Choir!Choir!Choir!, De La Soul, Dwayne Gretzky, Magic!, Tom Chaplin, and Wintersleep.
In addition to watching live cooking by top chefs, attendees can also take part in culinary workshops and informative talks. Chef’s scheduled to take part include Chuck Hughes, Rob Gentile, Vikram Vij, Matt Demille, Derek Dammann, Michael Hunter, Danny Smiles, and Victor Barry.
As this is a family-friendly weekend, kid-centred entertainment will also be available. These guests include PAW Patrol, Splash’N Boots, and Fred Penner. Your kids can also have fun in the Little Dude’s Den, Little Kitchen, and The Farm to Fork garden that teaches children about growing your own food and eating healthy. The festival organizers strive to provide both fun and education for children of all ages.
