The Biggest Record Show in the World is This Weekend

Last weekend, after a hearty breakfast of eggs and juicy sausages, a group of buddies and I hit the Fall Downtown Record Show at the Estonian Hall on Broadview. The event began with the traditional cry from our leader: “GENTLEMEN: EMPTY YOUR WALLETS!” And we did.

I love record shows, simply because you never know what you’ll find. I know I should go with a list of stuff I’m looking for (and, more importantly, a list of cool stuff that I already have; it’s amazing how many times I’ve bought the same thing two, three, even four times) but I tend to just graze through the crates until I (a) run out of money; (b) run out of patience.

One day, though, I do want to go to the Mega Records & CD Fair in Utrecht, The Netherlands, an event billed as the biggest of its kind on the world. Now into year 46, it features more than 500 record dealers from around the world covering more than 12,500 square metres at the Jaarbeurs Convention Centre. Read more about it at The Vinyl Factory.
