Billie Corgan’s Mellon Collie opera debuted over the weekend

It’s hard to pick the definitive Smashing Pumpkins album, but I’m guessing most people will go wtih 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. That record has proved to be remarkably enduring. Billy Corgan is now taking things further by adapting it for opera.

Called A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness, it debuted with the Chicago Lyric Orchestra on Friday (November 21) and will continue all this week.
