Bored? This app will help fine-tune your headphone listening.

If you listen to a lot of music from your phone, you’ll know that there are limited options for tweaking the sound that comes out of your headphones. Looking at iPhones, you’ll see just a few preset EQ settings.

But then there are apps like SoundId from Sonarworks, a Latvian-based tech outfit that creates audio reference software. Download the app, pick your model of headphones from a very long list and then proceed to adjust the audio so it’s most pleasing to you.

I tried it with a couple of headphones, including some first-gen Apple AirPods and the difference was rather dramatic. You can try it for yourself here.
