Breaking Down Recorded Music Sales in Canada by Sector for 2011

This is from the Globe and Mail which cites IFPL and Music Canada.  We’ll get figures for 2012 in the coming months.

Physical sales (CDs, vinyl):  54% ($234.9 million)

Digital (albums and individual tracks):  38% ($164 million)

Performance rights (radio play, public performances, etc.):  4% ($19 million)

Synchronization revenue (licensing music to movies, TV, video game, etc): 4% (16.1 million)
