Britain’s MI foils an ISIS-obsessed teenager’s plot to attack a major British music festival
MI5, one of the UK’s security services, says it foiled a plot by a 15-year-old teenager to do some serious damage to last year’s Isle of Wight music festival. The kid was apparently “obsessed with ISIS” and wanted to attack on non-believer of Islam. Last Monday’s arrest came after a tip from the FBI.
The case has only come to light recently when the boy (from Crowes on the Isle of Wight itself) appeared in court. When he was picked up by counter terrorism police, he had a knife in his backpack.
Evidence suggest he researched the festival, which attracted 90,000 people in 2022. Among the things he looked at was locations, weapons, firearms, vehicles, and a stab vest. They also apparently uncovered a martyrdom note entitled “To My Family.” He pleaded no guilty to all charges.
