British teenager arrested before he could launch an audience attack at the first Oasis reunion show

A 17-year-old kid–his identity is protected–allegedly planned to launch an attack on the audience at the first Oasis reunion show in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4. The story says he wanted to execute a “Rudakubana-style attack,” a reference to Axel Rudakubana, the guy who murdered three little girls at a Taylor Swift-inspired dance class in the UK last July.

Although this kid had yet to acquire any weapons, he does face a charge of “possessing information likely to be useful to someone preparing an act of terrorism.” He’d researched Rudakabana, talked to someone about preparing the deadly chemical ricin, and shared an Al-Qaeda training manual. He also searched “places to attack” online.

How was he caught? His parents spoke to a counsellor when he started talking about being the next Rudakubana.
