Burlington’s Sound of Music is dead. Long live a brand new festival for the city!

For decades, the Sound of Music festival in, Ontario, has been one of the great concert events in southern Ontario. But the last few years have been difficult with rising costs, declining government grants, and falling sponsorships. Even after an appeal for new sponsors, organizers just came up short. The was no choice but to call things off–for 2026, anyway.

The good news is the city has a new operator for a summer festival. MRG Live will run things next year. They were, in fact, one of 12 different companies who applied to take over the festival. MRG is quite big with offices in Toronto, Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal. Their specialty is “producing multi-day festivals, civic celebrations, artisan markets, and large family focused events.”

The festival will proceed in its usual timeslot: June 19-21, 2025–at least we think so.

This is excellent news on every level. More here.
