Can you “see” music in three dimensions?

I’d never heard of Jules Antoine Lissajous, a 19th-century French physicist before this Boing Boing article. Using tuning forks, he created Lissajous curves, two dimensional shapes that correspond to musical notes and the spaces between pitches. This gives us the ability to “see” music in three dimensions.
