With Canada’s 150th Birthday Comes a New Music Collection
Universal Music Canada has been working on a special collection to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Canada. Called Canada 150: A Celebration of Music, it will be available in several forms: a single CD, a double CD and a Super Deluxe 6-CD “Coffee Table Book” edition. Everything will be released June 30. Looks like a great CD, but I can’t believe it doesn’t have one of the most famous and beloved Canadian bands of all time on it. Where is the Hip? Or some of Gord Downie’s solo work? It’s not a complete compilation without them.

Simple – because Disc 7 should be The Hip’s Yer Favourites compilation. Problem solved. 🙂
No Blue Rodeo either. Talk about a smack in the face to two of the biggest bands Canada has ever produced!
Hip jumped out but also Tears Are Not Enough and anything Québécois.
No Great Big Sea either…
I’m thinking they had a hard time getting licensing from some labels. It’s the only way to explain so many of the core Canadian bands being omitted.
