Here are the Canadian music sales and streaming stats for Week One of 2022, starting with the year-over-year comparisons.

  • Total album sales, +5.8%
  • CD sales, +36.9% (NOT a typo!)
  • Digital albums, -19.3%
  • Digital tracks, -17.8%
  • Vinyl LPs, +17.6%
  • On-demand audio streams, +11.6%

Now let’s compare last week to the week before.

  • Total album sales, -16.4%
  • CD sales, -26.4%
  • Digital albums, -16.2%
  • Digital tracks, -13.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, +4.4%
  • On-demand audio streams, -4.9% (1.983 billion streams in the country last week)
