Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 10 May 2021

Nielsen/MRC‘s email came in a little late this week but here’s what we’ve got, starting with a look at things year over year.

  • Total album sales, -10.7%
  • CD sales, -13.8%
  • Digital albums, -22.2%
  • Digital tracks, -26.2%
  • Vinyl LPs, +62.2% (!!!)
  • On-demand audio streaming, +15.1%

Now let’s look at how things compare to the previous week:

  • Total album sales, -3.3%
  • CD sales, +6.7%
  • Digital albums, -10.4%
  • Digital tracks, -4.6%
  • Vinyl LPs, -5.1%
  • On-demand audio streaming, 0.0% (1.888 billion streams in Canada last week)
