Canadian Survey Connects Music Preferences with Driving Habits

Today’s Globe and Mail Drive section has a good list of facts connecting music and motoring based on a survey of 1,000 Canadian drivers by Kanetix.ca, an online insurance comparison site.  For example:

  • Alt-rock fans are most likely never had been at fault in a crash (55%)
  • 49% of folk music fans have never had a speeding ticket. The figure for all other music fans is 37%.
  • R&B fans tend to have the most speeding tickets (16% of them have had four or more).
  • Hip hop and metal fans get the most careless driving charges.
  • When reggae fans plead their case for being stopped for speeding (something they do more than any other music fans), 11% of them are most like to give the excuse “I have to go to the bathroom.”
