Canadians are listening to a LOT of podcasts. Here are the latest stats.

A new study on podcast listening in Canada reveals that we’re big into the medium. This comes via Triton Digital’s fourth annual Canadian Podcast Report.

  • We’re listening to 46% more podcasts this year than last year. If we narrow it down to just English-speaking podcasts, that number is 49%.
  • Canadians listen to an average of 4.1 different podcasts. That’s up from 3.5 in 2023.
  • YouTube is our favourite podcast platform.
  • Apple Podcasts is number one for RSS feeds. About 49% of all new such episodes were downloaded through Apple Podcasts.
  • The biggest podcast platform is the iHeartRadio app (owned by Bell), which accounts for 3% of all podcast listening.
  • Apple Podcast users–i.e. listeners–are more likely to earn more than $100,000 year. Good to know for advertisers.
