CARAS Enters New Partnership with CBC
After a successful 16-year exclusive partnership with CTV, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) just announced a new six-year exclusive broadcast partnership with CBC. Next year’s JUNO Awards will be broadcast live on CBC from the Vancouver Canuck’s home, Rogers Arena, on Sunday March 25, 2018, with JUNO Week celebrations running that week.
Allan Reid, President and CEO of CARAS/The JUNO Awards and MusicCounts commented:
“We are excited to embark on our partnership with the CBC. As our official broadcaster, their vision to wrap themselves with ongoing JUNO programming throughout the year, aligns with our continued efforts to elevate the JUNO experience engaging Canadians from coast to coast to coast. As we look forward to this new chapter, we also want to thank CTV for their extensive support over the past 16 years. They have been an invaluable partner in growing the JUNOS to the national celebration that we know today”.
Additionally, CBC plans to build on its commitment to Canadian music by launching new music programming initiatives and special events throughout the year in partnership with CARAS. This includes covering a more diverse range of genres and musicians as well as investing in educational programs to support the next generation of artists. Further details will come in the following weeks.
