CBGB Awning Sold for $30K at Auction

One of the last versions of the famous awning over the front door of CBGB in New York went up for sale through Sotheby’s last weekend, selling right in the middle its $25,000-$35,000 estimate.

The awning was in the possession of Drew Bushong, one of the bar’s former managers. One night while really drunk, he found it in a dumpster and decided to take it home. He kept it under his bed for years before he decided to see how much it was worth. He’s now a happy guy.

There’s another CBGB awning at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
