Chester Bennington Made Sure his Family was Looked After. Then He Died.

Before he took his own life a week ago, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington made sure his family was looked after financially. He had a wife, an ex-wife and six children.

According to TMZ (say what you want about their salacious coverage, but they do occasionally dig up some relevant stuff), the last major thing Chester bought was a new two-storey five bedroom/4 bathroom house in LA worth about $3.2 million CAD. Located in a community called Palos Verdes Estates, the neighbourhood is upscale and has an excellent series of schools. The purchase was made on May 26, eight days after his great friend Chris Cornell committed suicide. The family moved into the new place about seven weeks ago.

Some suggest that this was all part of Chester’s plan to look after his family before he took his own life. This theory doesn’t square well with how excited he seemed to be about the new Linkin Park album and the upcoming co-headline tour with blink-182.

So why did Chester choose to end his life? You gotta believe that it was one of those spur-of-the-moment things that sometimes hit people. At that second, for whatever reason, he felt he had to end it all. But we’ll never know, will we?
