Chrome Update Shows Which Tab Is Playing Music

Tell me this hasn’t happened to you a hundred times.  You’re working at your computer when suddenly music starts playing from somewhere.  You frantically search through all your open tabs to find out where it’s coming from so you can shut it off before the douche in the next cubicle starts whining at you.  More often than not, you lose the race against the douche and his whining.

Google has made an enhancement to Chrome that should end this.  If you open Chrome to any site that starts playing music, you’ll notice a little arrow next to the name of the page in the tab.

Chrome audio indicator

See it?  That means there’s audio coming from that window.

This isn’t exactly what Digital Music News reports, but I’ll take it.

  • I fully approve of ” The Stone Roses” being the example!
