Clever: Lorde’s new single “Solar Power” was timed to be released on the day of a solar eclipse

Yesterday (June 10), swaths of Canada were treated to an annular eclipse of the sun, which sees the moon almost but not quite cover the disc of the sun. Google around and you’ll find some pretty spectacular pictures.

The music angle to this is that Lorde’s new single, “Solar Power,” was timed to be released on the day of the eclipse. Nice tie-in, huh?

If you haven’t seen the artwork yet–and I find that impossible, given how it rocketed around the internet–it does feel a little on the NSFW side. And in case you’re wondering, Lorde is now 24. At least that’s what Randy Marsh would have us to believe.
