Cool Bit of Travis History

I’ve always been a fan of Travis, a Scottish band that came along towards the end of the Britpop era. Their song “Sing” is one of my favourites, although “Why Does It Always Rain on Me” from their second album, The Man Who is also very good.

Singer Fran Healy explained to the Daily Mail how the band chanced upon that quiet and reflective approach.

‘To be honest, one of the reasons The Man Who was so quiet was that I had an argumentative neighbour. He was a skinhead guy who lived downstairs, and he was always complaining about the noise. He called me a rock ’n’ roll w*****, so I tiptoed around the house and wrote all these soft, sensitive songs.’
