  • Hey Alan, do you remember Sex Gang Children at all? Or maybe the stuff Andi Sexgang did on his own with Mick Ronson, or his other solo material? Musical sociologists will argue about it, but Ian Astbury did once say that the whole business of calling contemporary people "goths" got a start with critical descriptions of Andi Sexgang as the "gothic goblin" whose residence at the time was Visigoth Towers, and who would dress like a Siouxsie and the Banshees fan. I got that from a documentary a few years back called Andi Sexgang: Bastard Art. You probably knew that because you know the entire continuing history of new music (and if not, you probably know a more accurate origin for the contemporary use of "goth" as a subculture label), but just for your amusement.

Also, Sex Gang Children are in town and headlining a show on June 2. I included the event link in "Author URL" if you know anybody who would be interested. The group is going to be coming off a recent performance at Treffen and it should be a neat show.
